DLT Data Cleanup

DLT Data Cleanup

1        Introduction

1.1        Objective

Despite considerable progress in the global response to HIV / AIDS, the epidemic is still out of control among girls and adolescents aged 15-24, especially in sub-Saharan African countries such as Mozambique where thousands of girls are infected each week. Better known as DREAMS, the Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-Free, Mentored, and Safe initiative is supported by the United States President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Girl Effect. DREAMS is a holistic approach for the prevention of HIV infection, involving community and clinical implementation partners (IP) who implement high impact interventions in order to protect young girls and adolescents against HIV infection. The DREAMS Layering Tool (DLT) is an online and offline information system where DREAMS beneficiaries are registered as well as all interventions they receive, be it in the Community, School or Health Facility. The providers of the interventions directly enter data in the DLT by use of manual devices. The objective of the DLT is to allow for efficient registration of DREAMS beneficiaries and digitization of relevant data to avoid manual data collection tools that can represent an extra burden, and to generate electronic reports for the AGYW_PREV indicator as well as other reports and lists that are in the interest of the program.

The challenge of managing data retention on the DLT 2.0 mobile application was brought to light because of performance issues with the DLT 2.0 mobile application, as the accumulation of data was causing performance issues. Therefore, there's a pressing need to devise a strategy to manage data retention effectively without compromising the application's performance or offline capabilities.

1.2        Scope and Key Assumptions

This document outlines all the detailed requirements for the system’s data cleanup process for mobile devices.

The cleanup process consists in removing the data associated with beneficiaries only from mobile devices. Data will be retained on the central server.

If at any stage there is a need to provide a service or issue a referral to a beneficiary who has been removed from a mobile device, DLT 2.0 users can manually reload the beneficiary’s data onto a mobile device using the NUI search feature or DLT 2.0.
